What is SEO and How does it Work?

Search engine optimization, or SEO, involves the addition of information to a website in order to help search engines understand what's on that page. The way that search engines work is that they spider (or "crawl") your site based on links found within the code of your HTML pages.

In other words, it's a way to make sure that sites show up on Google's first page for the keywords/phrases that need to be ranked for.

In today's hyper-competitive online world, being visible is everything. If your site doesn't rank highly on popular search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo!

What are some essentials of SEO?

The SEO essentials are SEO basics that every SEO expert must know. Here is an example of SEO essentials:

- Keyword research, including how to find keywords your SEO would be targeting and choosing between different words for search engines to rank well. Keywords can also help in understanding what people are searching for when using a search engine.

- On page SEO - which focuses on the SEO techniques directly related to a webpage or website itself, such as HTML titles and meta descriptions.

- Off page SEO - this is basically anything SEO that isn't happening at the moment on the site itself, but instead SEO work done off site, like profile building through online forums or article

Keyword research

Seo begins with choosing the right SEO keywords. SEO keywords are generally Long-Tail SEO keywords that use SEO phrases and SEO synonyms. Seo keywords depend on your business and what products or services you're offering. Seo research is not easy and may require focus groups, surveys and even random questionnaires (emails) to see how people talk about your stuff so you can choose the right language to target when optimizing a website or article for search engines.

Searchers using SEOs will often Google terms like "best [whatever]," which means ranking high in such searches can be valuable. But researching such terms requires time, expertise -- and maybe some good coffee!

On page SEO

On page SEO is not just taking SEO and placing it on an article, but is a process of SEO optimization.

The SEO optimization process has to do with the SEO that you place on your site or blog, and then ensuring that will be indexed once SEO is performed.

On page process involves more than SEO techniques though; it also involves research in order to make sure the correct SEO is placed when optimizing your site or blog.  Also within this process is making sure you know who your audience will be when they visit your site or blog and what they may try to look for in order to find what you have available whether it's a product, service, etc.

The on page SEO optimization process also involves SEO tools that will help you understand what SEO techniques are working the best, how many people are finding your page, etc.

Off page SEO

Off page SEO is SEO that takes place off of your site or blog and usually links back to it.  Off page SEO can involve giving away free products or services in exchange for a review.  It may also include other promotional activities such as contests or sweepstakes so long as they do not violate any laws within the country where the promotion is taking place.  Off page SEO is important because it builds links to your site which means more traffic to your site/blog; however, all SEO optimization processes should be followed when SEO'ing a site or blog.

Benefits of SEO for your website and business:

There are many benefits to using SEO on your website. Whether it's for your own business or a personal blog, SEO can help you rank higher and generate more traffic that will convert into sales. It only takes a quick google search to find out how SEO helps businesses increase their organic traffic by providing results that people are searching for. As a result of SEO, the average conversion rate has been shown to increase as much as 40%. Additionally, 85% of consumers consult reviews before making a purchase decision which shows how important it is to make sure you have positive reviews from happy customers especially if those customers reside in the same area as you. Lastly, SEO can help improve your site's e-commerce rating.  A SEO expert will audit your website to see what needs to be changed and then they will provide a SEO report that lets you know how to improve your site. This ensures that your SEO goals are met by providing useful information for you to follow if you don't have the necessary experience, time, or knowledge of SEO tactics.

SEO benefits businesses by allowing them a greater chance of ranking higher in search engine results pages which leads customers directly to your site since customers often rely on online reviews rather than word-of-mouth advertising due to its accuracy and credibility as well increasing sales through improved conversions, improved e-commerce ratings, and more organic traffic.  SEO also provides SEO reports that allow marketers to easily see what SEO tactics are working, which SEO tactics aren't being used, and how much SEO has improved in general since SEO audits are performed on a regular basis.
